Back in early September, myself and a few dedicated volunteers, lent a healing hand to the THHN City to Sea Marathon, offering free massages to the rain-soaked finishers. As well as providing some expert therapy—to both runners and walkers— we were able to raise £154.05 in donations for the Torbay Holiday Helpers Network. So, a huge thank you, to all those who dug deep and contributed to a worthwhile cause.
We were hoping to stay for longer, to offer treatment to the Ultra Marathon runners, too— who I’m sure would’ve welcomed it! —but unfortunately the inclement weather had other ideas. Anyone who saw us battling with our gazebo and the high winds and rain, will appreciate why we were forced to abandon ship. As a keen sailor, it pained me to be beaten by the elements!
The City to Sea Race is organised by the Torbay Holiday Helpers Network. The goal of the charity is to offer free fun-filled holidays to families who’ve been effected by serious illness and bereavement. In difficult times, the THHN can provide some long-lasting, happy memories to those who need it the most. All profits from the event, including ours, go directly to the THHN.
